Het is inmiddels alweer vijf jaar geleden dat de uit New York afkomstige band Vampire Weekend in AFAS Live stond. Nu met het nieuwe album Only God Was Above Us op komst is het tijd voor een nieuwe Europese tour. Eerder dit jaar verschenen de eerste singles Capricorn en Gen-X. Het vijfde studioalbum verschijnt op vrijdag 5 april wanneer ook de kaartverkoop van het concert van start gaat.

De band werd opgericht in 2006 en bestaat uit zanger en gitarist Ezra Koenig, drummer Chris Tomson en bassist Chris Baio. In 2008 bracht Vampire Weekend hun gelijknamige debuutalbum uit, dat wereldwijd werd ontvangen als een van de beste indierockplaten van dat jaar. Hierop zijn onder andere bekende hitsingles zoals A-punk en Oxford Comma te horen. Vampire Weekend staat bekend om hun unieke sound. Hun muziek word omschreven als stuiterende indierock met een aanstekelijke mix van afrobeats, Caribische ritmes en westerse popmuziek.
